Spring has sprung, and this year, there’s no excuse not to look effortlessly cool… all season long.
Say your goodbyes to your puffer coats and faux fur – it’s time to upgrade your outerwear collection and welcome this season’s latest trends to your wardrobe.
We’re all for layering for styling purposes (not just because we’re freezing our a**** off), statement styles and everything-but bulky fits.
From the return of the mac to the modern windbreaker, here’s the styles that are coming out on top.
Take note – you’ll be wearing them on rotation for the next few months.
THE ELEVATED TRENCH
Sometimes you can’t beat a classic and other times you can give it an edgy makeover.
This season, your favourite trench coat is back, but it’s bolder, braver, and it wants attention from all angles. Think wide-brim belted silhouettes, surprising hues such as white, yellow and baby pink, and copious amount vinyl and PVC. Yep, the patent is in and so is the see-through look – daring but doable, we promise.
The trench coat is all grown up and going through a rebellious phase – embrace it.

MAKE A STATEMENT
Nothing says new season like a statement jacket. Luckily, there’s a new rule in town and we’re here for it. ‘More is more’ - the more drama in the details, the better. Animal print is timeless, and in particular, we’re seeing cow print storming the streets of London and New York already. If animal print isn’t really your thing, opt for celestial print jackets, houndstooth wool and classic silhouettes for an ‘out-there’ reboot.
FYI, leather was never out, but it’s had a revamp and it’s more in than ever. Look out for candy-coloured styles in powder puff pink and baby blue.

PRACTICAL NOT BORING
Although it can be tempting to stick to classic basics for everyday wear, we think that sunny Spring deserves a little bit more edge. Look to the multidimensional utility jacket. Sure, utilitarian chic has been in for a while, but it’s taking an even more practical turn for Spring. From short jackets in neutral hues of beige and stone to styles designed with extra pockets for added convenience, 9-to-5 workwear has never looked so good.
You in a flawless mix of wearable neutrals. Choose head-to-toe tonal of whites, off-whites, creams and sands. *Disclaimer* Be careful during your coffee breaks.
CHECKMATE
First thing’s first, the checked blazer isn’t a ‘new trend’, but it’s definitely trending. No longer relegated to the back of the wardrobe as corporate-only attire strictly worn in the office. Nope, this humble checked style is making all kinds of fashion statements this Spring. We’re seeing checked blazers in surprising hues of deep emerald, purples, and pinks. Even better, you can wear your multitasking grey style with quite literally anything and everything.
Team with wide leg ripped jeans, a bodysuit and a pair of white ankle boots for the ultimate in boss lady.

THE ‘80’S ARE CALLING
We’re seeing the cool girls from across the globe rocking an abundance of leather jackets and coats and this deeply chic look isn’t going anywhere for Spring. From boxy tailoring and little capped sleeve numbers to robe-like silhouettes, fringed sleeves and long-line Matrix-esque styles, expect the unexpected and welcome a modern take on this classically rock ’n’ roll staple.
Tradition takes a re-imagined turn and your insta-feed will thank us for it.

The windbreaker is the biggest comeback Queen of all. Spring is set to welcome this interesting sporty style back with open arms into our closets and it’s no surprise. Jumping off the back of the athleisure trend, the windbreaker is kinda’ like dipping your Maccas fries into your chocolate milkshake. Wrong on paper, but actually so, so right. We’re no stranger to a '90s comeback and we’re certainly not opposed to one either.
Earn yourself some major style points in a reimaged nylon classic with a pair of oversized leather pants, jeans or an A-line mini for the ultimate 90’s it-girl look.
Upgrade your style and inject some fun into your Spring coat-drobe with the new outerwear trends that we can’t wait to see all season long.
